First Day Hike at Rib Mountain State Park

Start your New Year in the great outdoors! Experience Rib Mountain in the “off-season” and enjoy the quiet and beauty winter brings to the park. Wear your snowshoes or your boots, your choice. Make sure you dress for the weather! Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.
Meet at the Park Office to start your hike! Hike on your own from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, or join the Park Naturalist from 12:00 to 1:15 pm for a guided hike all about winter ecology on the mountain.
Come inside and warm up after your hike with hot chocolate! Staff will be available in the office to answer questions. Bathrooms and water are also available in the office.
The First Day hiking loop is approximately 1.5 miles long. This trail is narrow with some elevation change. This trail is considered moderate in difficulty, with some uphill sections being slightly more strenuous. The trail will be marked with lime green tape.
