The impressive focal point of the Marshfield Fairgrounds is the World’s Largest Round Barn. The round barn was built in 1916 to house purebred animals in 250 stanchions. At 150 feet in diameter and 70 feet high, it is a wonder to behold. The arena, with no supporting beams, is an impressive sight. This architectural feat was accomplished without benefit of scaffolding. The only supporting beams are the cross beams beneath the cupola.
Every year during the Central Wisconsin State Fair, the round barn is used for its original intent—to display purebred animals during the shows and sales.
Call the Fair Office to arrange a tour. The fairgrounds are also home to many festivals and events throughout the year and house the Marshfield Area Ice Arena, Marshfield Curling Club, and softball fields.
